Emma Sophie Belseth, daughter of Oscar and Minnie (Fall) Belseth, was born September 24, 1916 in Milan, MN. She grew up in Milan and attended school there. On April 29, 1934 she married Abner Snelling in Milan, MN. The couple made their home in Milan until 1940 when they moved to Hills, MN. Over the years Emma helped raise the family and take care of the home. In 1945 they moved to Montrose, SD and then later lived in Parker, SD where they ran a cafe until 1950. In 1950 the family moved to Sioux Falls where they remained until 1970.

On June 3, 1970 Emma married Alfred Klutmann in Sioux Falls. The couple then moved to Portland, OR where they lived until 1990. They returned to Sioux Falls where Emma lived until the present. Alfred passed away on December 27, 2008.

In her free time Emma loved to play BINGO! She also enjoyed playing cards with friends and family and taking care of animals. Above all she loved to spend time with family. Emma was a loving mother, a wonderful grandmother, great-grandmother and great great-grandmother, and a great friend to all who knew her. She will be greatly missed.

Grateful for having shared her life children, Arlene Jaqua, Florence Stoltenberg, Jeanette (Jim) Foster, Margaret Olesen, Dennis (Diane) Snelling, all of Sioux Falls, SD and Carol (Doug) DeBoer, Mt. Vernon, SD; brother, Glenn (Geraldine) Belseth, Minneapolis, MN; 17 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and 31 great great-grandchildren.

Emma is preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Minnie; husbands, Abner Snelling and Alfred Klutmann; son, Daryl Snelling; grandson, Michael Jaqua; brothers, Floyd, Everett and Milton Belseth; sons-in-law, Lloyd Cramer and Daryel Stoltenberg; sisters-in-law, Margaret, Elma and Elizabeth (Betty) Klutmann and June, Shirley and Phyllis Belseth; and brother-in-law, Walter Klutman.
