Eldon D. Hasche, 89, died Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, SD. Funeral service will be 10:00 AM Friday, July 22, 2016 at Christ Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls, SD. Family present visitation will be 5:00-7:00 PM, Thursday, July 21, 2016 at George Boom Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Sioux Falls, SD.

Eldon Dwain was born July 16, 1926 in Burke, SD to William and Alma (Rambrant) Hasche. He attended school and graduated from Burke High School in 1942. He attended the University of South Dakota and graduated in 1946. He met and married Betty Hoklin in Elk Point, SD on August 5, 1950.

Eldon enlisted in the United States Army in 1952 at Fort Holabird, MD where he proudly served his country and was a top marksman on the Army Rifle Team. He was honorably discharged in 1955. Over the course of their marriage, Betty and Eldon moved several times. They lived in Gregory, SD where Eldon worked in insurance for Northwestern Bank until 1965. They then moved to Sioux Falls, SD where Eldon worked as a controller and auditor for Northwestern Bank before going to work at New York Life Insurance Company. In 1977, they moved to Madison, SD and Eldon bought and operated a property/casualty insurance agency. In 1988, they returned to Sioux Falls to be closer to their family.

Eldon was an active member of Christ Lutheran Church where he took on several administration roles. He was a Siouxland Lions Club member, a member of the Singing Legionaires of Post 15 and was a proud member of the Legion Post 15. Eldon could always be found visiting with people, maybe starting off as strangers but over the course of a conversation, becoming friends. He was very close and loving with his family and truly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his children, Bruce (Wendy) Hasche, Sioux Falls, SD; Beth (Randy) St. Clair, Surprise, AZ and Elaine Hasche, Sioux Falls, SD; two grandsons, Bret (Dana) Hasche and Ben (Elise Chesley) Hasche, all of Sioux Falls, SD; and one granddaughter, Megan (Eric) Tvedt, Minneapolis, MN.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; his parents; and his sister, Norma Hasche.
