Melvin Berg
Baltic, S.D. – Melvin Berg, 82, Des Moines, Iowa, died Wednesday at the Des Moines General Hospital.
Born in Baltic, he married Carried Jeannette Gran, Oct. 26, 1926. The couple lived in the Scotland and Menno, S.D., area. His wife died in 1933. He worked construction in Montana for a short time, returning to the Baltic – Dell Rapids area in 1938. In 1973, he moved to Des Moines.
Survivors include a son, Irwin, Des Moines; two daughters, Murlene Collins, Houston, Texas, and Maxine Manione, Lakewood, Colo.; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, and four brothers, Herman, Fort Worth, Texas; Clifford, Baltic; Gilbert, Round Lake, Minn., and Inglof, Burlington, Calif.; and a sister, Ida Gulbrandson, Garretson, S.D.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Baltic Lutheran Church. Visitation will bgin after 9 a.m. Sunday at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Baltic. Burial will be a tSt. Olaf Cemetery, Baltic.
