Marvin Andernacht was born at Lennox, SD on Jan. 20, 1919, the son of John and Bena (Kromminga) Andernacht. He grew up in this area attending rural school and graduating form Chancellor High School in 1936. He served in the US Army during World War II. On Jun. 25, 1939 he was united in marriage to Mae Dreesman at Parker, SD. The couple lived their entire married life of nearly 61 years in Lennox. Mae died on May 6, 2000. Marvin worked at the Hillman and Hoelscher Creameries. In 1962 he became the owner and operator of Marv's Standard in Lennox. In 1976 he sold the business to his son. He then operated a Star Route delivering mail until he retired in 1982. He was preceded in death by his father on Dec. 28, 1954; his mother on Jan. 2, 1973; his wife on May 6, 2000; one grandson, Scott Fodness, on Oct. 21, 1990, one brother, Clarence "Kelly" Andernacht on Dec. 5, 1981 and one sister, Grace Heibult on Apr. 4, 2002. Having been diagnosed with cancer in February of this year, Marvin died, Friday morning, May 30, 2003 at the Lennox Good Samaritan Center in Lennox. He attained the age of 84 years, four months and 10 days. Grateful for having shared his life are his three children and their spouses: Marlyce and Verl Stack of Lennox, Marcia and Dick Boese of Sioux Falls and Marlin "Butch" and Karen Andernacht of Lennox; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Henry Andernacht of Lennox.
