Funeral services were held Tuesday Afternoon, May 19, at the Methodist Church, Dell Rapids, for George H. Morgan, 84. The Rev. Glenn Hammerlee officiated and the Hermanson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were Harold Boyer, Oliver Heesch, Jack Lickteig, Willard Schramm, Dr. Robert Merkley and Obed Hoyme.
Music was furnished by Donald Johnson, soloist, accompanied my Mrs. Perle Wagner. Mr. Morgan, who had been a resident of Dell Rapids 40 years, was born at Smithland, Iowa, October 15, 1874, and died May 15, 1959. He was married to Ida Dietz, December 24, 1901 at Milbank. Nine Children were born to this union.
Mr. Morgan was a retired road contractor, but in more recent years was employed at the L.G. Everist Co. and at the office of Dell Rapids veterinarian. He was a kind and devoted husband and father and will be missed by many friends both young and old.
Besides the widow, he is survived by six sons, Frances, Leonard, Dale, Long Beach Calif, Charles, Coupeville, Wash, Later, Palatine, Ill, Robert, Rapid City, three daughters, Mrs. Bethel Goodale, Chester; Mrs. Emma Grav, Paramount, Calif.; Mrs. Grace Liggett, Torrance, Calif.; a brother Wils, Lusk, Wy.; a sister, Mrs. Emma Rahn, Dell Rapids; 15 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
