Jordon MarieElise Mogck
May 21, 1996 – February 19, 2023

Jordan MarieElise Mogck died peacefully on February 19, 2023 from a lengthy illness in her home with her family by her side. She was 26 years old. Throughout her illness, surgeries and hospitalizations Jordan remained brave and positive. She has been an inspiration to others. A celebration of life will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, February 27, 2023 at Peace Lutheran Church (5509 W 41st St.) Family will be present for visitation from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Sunday, February 26, 2023 at Miller Funeral Home – Westside Chapel (6200 W. 41st St.)

Jordan Mogck was born May 21, 1996 in Aberdeen, SD. She was flown to the NICU at Sanford Hospital shortly after. She was placed in her loving foster home with Brian and Shelley Donovan. On August 30, 1996 she joined her mom Dede Glood in adoption. They met her Dad Dan Mogck in 1997 and became a family through adoption again in 1999. They welcomed her sister in 2000. Jordan attended Sioux Falls Public Schools and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 2015. Following high school she attended Community Campus and then Lifescape Day Program. She remained at Lifescape until her health deteriorated in 2020.

Jordan was a very active and social young lady. She was a member of the United Special Olympic Wolf Pack Team. She was a member of the Dakota Spirit Sparklers Cheer Team. For a majority of her life she took many dance classes and performed in many dance recitals at Dance Gallery of South Dakota. She participated in numerous Mixed Ability Theatrical productions at the Lifescape Center for the Arts (often stealing the show!). She also participated in Camp Create through Lifescape Center for the Arts. She participated in Horsepower until her health prevented her from doing so. Jordan volunteered at the Sanford Wellness Center for several years, in the wellness center and the day care.

Jordan was a beautiful soul with a loving, feisty spirit. She was accepting of every person for who they were. She enjoyed her family, staff, friends, nurses, therapists, doctors, etc. and never met a person she didn’t like. She was great at giving the persons who worked with her nicknames that stuck with them forever. Jordan had the ability to charm others with her warm smile, caring attitude, joy of life and mischievous sense of humor. Jordan also was a little sassy and a “drama queen” at times. She enjoyed life and celebrations, especially the holidays. She loved to dance, sing, act, spend time with friends, go to movies, bowl, and create art. She loved a good road trip and was frequently her Mom’s travel buddy. A road trip was never complete unless we sang all her favorite songs – loudly and with flair. Jordan loved to shop – she was a true Shopping Queen! Jordan has touched many lives in her 26 years – she could make others feel good about themselves – it was a true gift. Her spirit will be missed but will be in the hearts of those who loved her and who she loved.

Grateful for having shared Jordan’s life with her are her parents, Dede and Danny; her sister, Leah of Sioux Falls; her aunts and uncles, Ellen Glood of Sioux Falls, Dan (Kathy) Glood or Fargo, ND, Lisa (Mike) McIlvenna of Viborg, SD, Bonnie (Jamie) Wickham of Lee, MA, Dean Mogck, of Luverne, MN, and Donna (Dick) Ozmun of Northfield, MN; her 10 cousins and 20 grand-cousins; her first mother and her two birth brothers. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Royal and Marie Glood, and Don and Betty Mogck; and her Uncle, Marty Glood.
