Funeral for Former Sherman Resident
Funeral services for Ole J. Lomen of Hills, Minn., will be held at the Miller Funeral home in Sioux Falls at 1:30 Thursday afternoon, with burial in the Rosendal Cemetery, north of Sherman.
Mr. Lomen was well known in this community as he resided in the Sherman community for many years. He had been in poor health in recent years, and had been hospital early Monday morning, after another brief illness.
Rev. O.H. Salveson of Hills will officiate at the last rites.
Mr. Lomen was born in Springdale Township in Lincoln County December 8, 1878, and had reached the age of 81 years, 4 months, and 24 days. He grew up in that area. In recent years he was in business for a time, but had resided in Hills for the past three years, where he was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
Survivors included the widow, the former Sophia Rogness; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Fred K. Smith, Pipestone, Minn., and Mrs. Elmer G. Rudd, Hill and a stepson, Andrew H. Rogness, Eau Claire, Wis.
As stated about Mr. Lomen was well known in the Sherman community. His first wife was Martha Lerdal, a sister of Mrs. J. E. Eitreim and Olay Lerdal of Garretson. She died in 1918, leaving him with an infant son, Larry. Mr. Lomen and Larry made their home with the A.O. Lerdal family for many years, Larry died in 1938, at the age of 21 years after a long illness.
