C.N. Bach Was
Resident Here More
Than 40 Years

The Dell Rapids Community learned with sincere regret of the sudden passing of Chris N. Bach, in the home of his son Lester in Fargo, North Dakota, last Friday evening, January 16th. Although confined to his room with a slight cold for a day or two he was in his usual pleasant humor and members of his family and a physician who called on him found no reason for anxiety concerning his condition. When a tray was carried to his room at dinner time on Friday evening he said he needed no assistance and asked that his son should go downstairs to have his dinner. Returning a few minutes later to carry away the tray Lester had reached the lower floor when he heard his father fall. His going was apparently instantaneous.

Mr. Bach was nineteen years old when he came to the United States from his native Rorso, Denmark home. Settling first near Volga, South Dakota, he came shortly to Dell Rapids and in 1905 married Alma Wood, the daughter of a substantial pioneer family of this community. Here he lived continuously until sometime after the passing of Mrs. Bach, when he went to Fargo to make his home with his son in November, 1946.

While his chief interest was in the operation of his farm, he was associated with the local Creamery, Produce and Insurance companies and had a wide acquaintance with business associates whose good will and confidence he had won through his natural friendliness and generosity.

He is survived by his daughter Helen of Sioux Falls, his son Lester of Fargo, North Dakota; two brothers, Matt Bach of New Canaan, Conn. and Peter of Chester, S.D.; two sisters, Mrs. Maren Olsen of Long Beach, N.Y., and Mrs. Peter Neilsen Withee, Wisconsin.

Services were conducted by Rev. Odland of the Lutheran Church in Dell Rapids on Tuesday morning, January 20th, and committal rites held at the family lot in the Dell Rapids Cemetery.
